Customs broker management Form: What You Should Know

If you or your spouse received an inheritance or gift, you would need to complete and file Form 3520 before the filing deadline on the 15th day of the following tax year (October 15) in order to report and pay this payment.  If this was the first year of a child's income that would have qualified for the “child tax credit” (see above for details), you would need to file Form 3520 within your due date. Form 3520 can also be used for the payment of foreign gifts under the “foreign generation transfer” rule, under which a dependent or child may receive a payment of a foreign estate tax exemption or foreign inheritance tax credit equal to the amount of the foreign gift or inheritance tax exemption or foreign inheritance tax credit, up to the sum of 22,000, 23,000, or 24,000 (depending on the year the gift or inheritance tax exemption or foreign inheritance tax credit is derived). If you are the gift or or heir to a trust, or you are claiming the foreign inheritance tax credit, and the trust has a surviving beneficiary, you would need to file Form 3520 by filing Form 2555 with your tax return.  If the gift recipient is a partnership or trust that is organized pursuant to a law of the United States or of any state, you can use Form FT 1040-B, U.S. Income Tax Return, to complete Form 3520 and file it with Form 1041. If the gift recipient is a corporation, you can use Form 8938, U.S. Individual Income Tax Return, to complete Form 3520 and file it with your tax return through Schedule A, line 1 (Form 1040). Taxpayers whose income exceeds 500,000 for a single tax year or 1,000,000 for married taxpayers filing jointly can elect to use the full amount of the foreign gift or inheritance tax credit on Form 3520 instead of filing Form 1040-B. If the donor, estate, estate, trust, partnership, or corporation is a single person, all payments will be made on Form 1040, with all payments made as a separate line item on Schedule A. Once each item is on Form 3520, they can then be received on Form 1040-B as a form 1040 line item. See the Instructions for Form 3520, Tax Instructions, for more information.

Instructions and Help about Customs broker management

A customs broker is a highly-trained import professional licensed by the US Customs and Border Protection. The customs broker must possess a thorough knowledge of customs regulations and the US harmonized tariff schedule. The customs broker must keep abreast of the constant changes in the law and the regulations that govern imports into the U.S. A U.S. customs broker prepares and files customs entries to help affect the release of import shipments. Customs brokers assist importers in the proper tariff classification of their imported products, helping to ensure the proper customs duties are paid. Customs brokers file necessary paperwork or electronic documentation to obtain release from other government agencies, such as the FDA, US Fish and Wildlife Service, USDA, and other government agencies. Customs brokers work with the transport company to help ensure the import shipment is delivered to the final consignee. The customs broker receives shipment documents, reviews those documents, then prepares and files the customs entry. U.S. Customs reviews the information submitted, either electronically or by actually reviewing the documents. US Customs determines whether they will need to examine the shipment, and if so, the broker helps arrange that examination. US Customs releases the shipment, meaning it is then allowed to be delivered to the ultimate consignee. Why choose us? We are experienced and knowledgeable. We are focused on customer service.
